We regret to inform that due to the current track condition, the Waitakere BMX Club are unable to proceed with its 13th April Race Meeting as advertised in the 2012-2013 BMX NZRace Calendar.
Development of the entire Te Hiroa Rangi Park, where the Waitakere BMX Club is situated, is imminent. We have been working closely with Auckland Council since public submissions were closed in October 2012 to start the desperately needed earthworks and drainage required at our track. Although Auckland Council have been very positive about starting the BMX track portion of the development plan (with BMX Worlds being here in Auckland), they also insist on due process being followed with regards to the consents process which is causing delays. As of our last meeting with Auckland Council on Tuesday 12th March, AucklandCouncil advised that further investigation is required before the consent process can proceed further.
This means that work required to get the track to a Race Meeting condition will now rely on club finances. The committee have considered this carefully and have decided that this would not be good use of club finances given the pending track work will in effect clear the area completely for a new track profile.
