We look forward to welcoming you to the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships in Birmingham below is the start of information as we go towards the competition next year. We encourage you to visit the official website www.bmxworldchamps.com and check back regularly as information is posted and content grows as we build up the event in May next year.
Competition Schedule
The competition schedule will be different for 2012 and also the way in which tickets for the event are sold. The racing at the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships in Birmingham will begin on Thursday 24th May with the track open for structured practice by country the previous two days (22nd & 23rd).
The competition is slightly different to previous World Championships and has two ‘show’ nights of elimination racing in which both Challenge and Championship riders will star.
Friday 25th and Saturday 26th May will make the best possible use of the NIA as an indoor arena to host two exciting nights of racing and entertainment that will keep spectators on the edge of their seats.
More information on the schedule is available on www.bmxworldchamps.com
Spectator Tickets
Ticketing is different to the way World Championships have been promoted previously so we strongly encourage you to read the information on the website. Tickets are on sale from the 1st December 2011, we are expecting a sell out crowd so to avoid disappointment please do not leave purchasing your tickets until you arrive in Birmingham.
We have tried to create a number of options that give us the opportunity to introduce the sport of BMX racing to as many people as possible and to give the largest range of choice to those wanting to see the racing so please read the information carefully.
General ticket information can be found in the spectator section on the official website www.bmxworldchamps.com/Spectator .
Rider Tickets
All Riders participating at the World Championships in Birmingham will receive a WINGS accreditation wristband that will grant access to the required areas of the arena, including spectator seating, for all sessions EXCEPT the Friday and Saturday evening.
Riders who wish to watch the racing from the spectator seating on these evenings will be required to purchase a special ‘Rider Ticket’ offering a 15% discount off standard prices. Rider tickets can be purchased from the 1st December by visiting the rider section www.bmxworldchamps.com/Rider . Riders do not require a ticket for Thursday, Friday and Saturday day sessions and Sunday.
A number of tickets will be held and sold in stages early next year therefore still allowing riders that have not yet qualified the opportunity to buy a seat watch the evening racing should they qualify at a later date. However, this number is very limited and so should you wish to guarantee a ticket you are advised to buy as soon as possible.
More information on tickets for riders can be found at www.bmxworldchamps.com/Rider
