Firstly, thank you to everyone who took part in the BMXNZ North Island Titles. It was an absolute pleasure to host you all here at Taupo BMX Club and trust that the weekend was an enjoyable one for the riders and supporters.
It was great to also host the Australian Test Teams, both Mighty 11s and the Seniors. The presentation and dinner at Suncourt Hotel and Conference Centre went without a hitch and was great to meet the teams and management. I hope that you all enjoyed the hospitality and got a chance to experience what Taupo had to offer.
I personally wish to thank everyone from Taupo BMX Club who helped put the weekend together.
The Taupo BMX Norths Committee and Committee - Jane Hirst, Matt Collins, Steve Amrein, Colin Hooper and Kate Harland, Paul Burns, Anne-Marie Ranford, Matt Harvey, Laurie Newman, Scott Sargison, Kerry Weal, Kevin Tamepo, Blair Harvey, John Croft with special mention to Nigel Whistler and Mike Newman for their help as well and the guys and girls who gave their time at working bees.
There’s also thanks needed for the ladies who spent most of the day on the Wednesday putting together the registration packs, Shelly and Karen who didn’t stray from the BBQ all weekend. Heather Fox for taking charge a few things that needed sorting!
Thank you also to BMXNZ Officials and Central Region for their support and advice with the Norths. Norm, Warren, Alex, Sharon, Andrew, Sam, Heather, Neville, Graham, Tony, Kim, Dawne, Aaron, Ed, Ingrid, Daphne, Carole and Donna.
There has been countless hours spent both at the track and behind the scenes. Anyone who has hosted a BMXNZ major event knows this already and I know that I may have missed thanking people - sorry if I have!
Special mention to AVPeople for their work with our live stream. We are proud to have made history with BMX in New Zealand by being the first to stream every race to the world. All the replays are available online too - www.dreamlive.nz/demand with all the finals being cut and uploaded to Taup BMX YouTube account. I am pleased to hear that other clubs are already looking into this as an option and I fully recommend Peter, Brock and Shaun from AVPeople here in Taupo! Feel free to contact them directly or via myself if you wish.
Taupo District Council Events team - Steve Giles and Jess Simpson for helping out with event support, the Kapa Haka group who put on an awesome show and a few other things. Your support and help was very much appreciated.
